Yvonne Estridge Parker

Yvonne Estridge Parker, 77, passed away on April 17, 2016, in Hopkins, South Carolina. Yvonne graduated from the former Flat Creek High School in Kershaw, SC in 1956, where she was selected Miss Flat Creek, lettered in basketball, and played coronet in the band. Following high school, she graduated from Columbia Business College and began her life-long career as an administrative and executive assistant. She worked in corporations and small businesses setting high standards for their success and performance culminating in her retirement from South Carolina State Government. Most of all and above all else, she displayed much love and great pride in the successes of her children and grandchildren.

She is survived by her daughter Donna Parker Chandler from Lexington, SC, her son, Jack “Winfred” Parker, Jr. and daughter-in-law, Colleen K. Martin from Arlington, VA. She is predeceased by her father and mother, Furman and Iva Catoe Estridge from Kershaw and one granddaughter, Parker Steppe from Lexington, SC. She is survived by five grandchildren: Ivy Chandler of Lexington, SC; Corey and Kayla Parker of Gaston, SC; and Sadie and Ava Parker of Arlington, VA. She is also survived by four brothers, F.C. (Joyce) Estridge, Billy (Diane) Estridge, Jack (Linda) Estridge, Carl (Kim) Estridge, and two sisters, Anita (Walker) Ragan, and Mae Outen.

She was a proud member of Harmony Baptist Church in Gaston, SC and grew up as a long time and former member of Midway Baptist Church in Kershaw, SC. Funeral services will be held at Midway Baptist Church, 7760 Old Jefferson Hwy., Kershaw, SC 29067, on Saturday, April 23, 2016, at 11:00 o’clock am. Visitation with the family will be held at the church from 10:00 – 11:00 am, prior to the service.
