Services to celebrate the life of Wintford Horton, 84, will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, September 7, 2010, in Kershaw Second Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the Kershaw City Cemetery. The Revs. Jamie Rogers and Don Knight will officiate.

Mr. Horton died Sunday morning, September 5, at his home. He was born in Kershaw, May 9, 1926. Mr. Horton retired from Springs Industries after 42 years of service. He was a part time employee of Kershaw Recreation Center for 35 years and a member of Abney Masonic Lodge No. 211 for over 50 years. Mr. Horton was a member of Kershaw Second Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon and Sunday School teacher . He enjoyed, spending time at the beach, working with the Boy Scouts and was a Andrew Jackson and Carolina Gamecock football fan.

Surviving are his wife of 64 years; Catherine Catoe Horton of the home, a daughter; Sandra L. Faulkenberry and her husband Randy of Charlotte, N.C., a son; Bobby Horton and his wife Donna of Lugoff, 5 grandchildren; Shelly Mize of Lake Wylie, Chad Faulkenberry of Charlotte, N.C., Brandon Horton of Spartanburg, Leah Horton, enlisted in the US Navy, Maryclaire Estes of Lugoff and 5 great grandchildren.

The family will receive friends, Monday, September 6, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Baker Funeral Home and other times at the home, 211 West Fourth Street, Kershaw.

Memorial contributions may be made to Kershaw Second Baptist Church, 7737 Kershaw-Camden Highway, Kershaw, S.C. 29067.
