Willie T. Holden

Willie Thomas Holden, age 86 of Cassatt, S.C., passed away, Sunday evening, December 10, 2023, in Beechwood at Karesh, Camden, S.C. with his children by his side. He was born February 24, 1937, in Kershaw, S.C., to the late Thomas Jackson Holden and Connie Mae Reeves Holden. He was a graduate of Mt. Pisgah High School and a member of Wateree Baptist Church, Camden, S.C. Mr. Holden also served in the South Carolina National Guard. Mr. Holden was a South Carolina Highway Patrolman. He went to work for the Patrol in 1960 and retired after a long career. He was one of the last surviving members of his Patrol class. He loved to play music and especially enjoyed tending his garden. He loved his family and cherished each moment he spent with his children and grandchildren. Mr. Holden was a practical joker, and he never met a stranger.

He is survived by his son, Greg Holden of Cassatt, S.C.; his daughter, Deborah Utecht and her husband, Darren of Elkin, N.C; six grandchildren, Greg (Yuliya) Holden, Jr., Joshua (Leah) Holden, Will (Monica) Snyder, Christopher Dallas, Amanda (Jimmy) Kim and Kyle Snyder; eight great grandchildren, Emma Kaye Holden, Kinley Elizabeth Holden, William Snyder, Lillian Snyder, Aubrey Snyder, Paul Dallas, Caleb Kim and Callie Kim and three sisters, Katherine Hudson and Rosa Lee Munn both of Camden, S.C. and Ann Vincent of Birmingham, AL. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife, Patsy Hicks Holden; his sister, Louise H. Truesdale; his half-brother, T.C. Holden and his half-sister, Beatrice Hilley.

The family will receive friends, Wednesday evening, December 13, 2023, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Baker Funeral Home, 210 E. Hilton Street, Kershaw, S.C.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, December 14, 2023, in the sanctuary of Wateree Baptist Church, 2024 Haile Street, Camden, S.C. 29020. The Reverend Taylor Wells will officiate.

The burial will immediately follow the service in the Kershaw City Cemetery, 190 Kirkland Avenue, Kershaw, S.C. 29067.

Memorial remembrances in memory of Mr. Holden may be made to Parkinson’s Foundation-Carolinas Chapter, 200 Southeast 1st Street, Miami, FL 33131.
