Graveside services for William Steele, 92, will be held at 11:00 A.M. Monday, November 2, at Kershaw City Cemetery. Rev. Jesse Hegler will officiate.
Born in Lancaster, he was the son of the late Walter Lee and Mae Cunningham Steele. Mr. Steele died Saturday, October 31, in Morningside Assisted Living, Lancaster. He was a farmer, substitute mail carrier and had worked for Soil Conservation service. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church, where he was and elder and was a World War II Army Veteran. He was married to Verda Mae Mobley Steele.
Surviving in addition to his wife, are two daughters; Dale S. Hegler and her husband Theron of Isle of Palms, Donna Steele of Lancaster, two grandchildren; Will Hegler and his wife Larkin of Mt. Pleasant, Ginny H. Carson and her husband Edmund of Charleston, four great grandchildren; Mary Larkin Hegler, Clayton Hegler, Amelia Carson and Sam Carson, and a sister; Teeny Kerr of Lancaster.
The family will receive friends Monday, November 2, prior to the service from 10:00 to 11:00 A.M. at Baker Funeral Home.
