William Roger Dixon

William Roger Dixon

William Roger Dixon, age 74, of Kershaw, S.C., passed away, Friday, January 12, 2024, with his family by his side. Born in Darlington County, S.C., he was a son of the late Willliam Melvin Dixon and Annie Mae Stevens Dixon. Mr. Dixon served his country in the United States Army. He retired from Wateree Textile Corporation and later from Kershaw County School District. He was of Methodist faith and attended Buffalo Baptist Church. Roger enjoyed traveling and doing woodworking. He made each of his grandchildren a rocking horse. He also enjoyed tinkering with his classic Chevelle and riding his tractor.


He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Debra Vincent Dixon; his son, Chad Dixon and his wife, Jill; his daughter, Kim Dixon and her husband, Duane Hunter; his 4 adored grandchildren, Caroline Dixon, Madison Dixon, Aubrey Dixon and Brayden Dixon; his sister, Barbara Johnson; his brother, Leonard Dixon and his wife, Sharon; his former sister-in-law, Vicky Dixon and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a grandson, Zachary Dixon and his brother-in-law, Willie Runt Johnson.


The family would like to thank MUSC Hospice Nurse Sarah and SCOA oncologist Dr. Mohamed El Geneidy for the love and care shown to Mr. Dixon. They would also like to thank social worker Jo Hancock of South Carolina Oncology Associates.


The family will receive friends on Tuesday evening, January 16, from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M at Baker Funeral Home, Kershaw, S.C., and other times at the home.


Funeral services for Mr. Dixon will be conducted, Wednesday afternoon, January 17, 2024, at 4:00 P.M. in the sanctuary of Buffalo Baptist Church, Kershaw, S.C. Rev. Todd Montgomery will officiate. The Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Military Honors.


Memorial contributions in memory of Mr. Dixon may be directed to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
