William G. Sims

Funeral service for William G. Bill Sims, 81, will be held at 2:00 P.M. Monday, May 4, 2009, in Kershaw Second Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the Kershaw City Cemetery. The Revs. Jamie Rogers and Don Knight will officiate.

Mr. Sims died Friday evening May 1, 2009, at his home. Born in Kershaw, he was the son of the late Hunter and Bessie Hilton Sims. He retired as a supervisor of the weave room from Springs Industries after 41 years of service. He was a member of Kershaw Second Baptist Church where he was a member of the Fisherman's Sunday School Class. Mr. Sims enjoyed his part time job at Small's Food Center in Pleasant Hill. He was married to the late Ruth Coates Sims.

Surviving are a daughter; Pat S. Hinson and her husband Ronnie, two sons; Randy Sims and his wife Michelle and Mitch Sims all of Kershaw, six grandchildren; Kim Kemmner of Myrtle Beach, Kelly Phillips of Kershaw, Joey Hinson of Lexington, Alan Sims, Hayley Sims and Victoria Sims all of Kershaw, four great grandchildren, two brothers; Jasper Sims of Goose Creek and Charles Sims of Rock Hill, several nieces and nephews and his special friend; Lillian Phillips. He was preceded in death by two sisters; Lucille S. Catoe, Christine S. Catoe, and three brothers; John Sims, Murriel F. Sims and Bobby Sims.

The family will receive friends, Sunday, May 3, 2009, from 6 to 8 P.M. at Baker Funeral Home and other times at the home of his daughter; 121 Blackmon Circle.

Memorial contributions may be made to Kershaw Second Baptist Church, Building Fund, 7737 Kershaw Camden Highway, Kershaw, S.C. 29067 or the charity of one's choice.
