William Franklin 'Bill' Adams

Funeral services for William Franklin “Bill” Adams, 90 of Kershaw, S.C. will be held at 10:30 a.m. in the sanctuary of First Baptist Church, Kershaw, Wednesday, December 18. The Revs. Bryant D. Fersner and Dr. Rebecca Wilkins will officiate. Burial will follow in the Fort Jackson National Cemetery, Columbia, S.C. at 2:00 p.m. with Military Honors. Mr. Adams died Saturday, December 14, 2013, in Dorn VA Medical Center, Columbia. Born in Kershaw, he was the son of the late John Thomas and Sarah Catherine Holley Adams. Mr. Adams retired from the South Carolina Tax Commission as a revenue officer. He also retired from the Army Reserves as a Sgt. Major and served his country in the United States Army during World War II. Mr. Adams graduated from Kershaw High School, held at B.S. degree from the Citadel and a Criminal Justice degree from the University of South Carolina –Lancaster. He served on the Andrew Jackson Area School Board, Kershaw Town Council, a member of Abney Masonic Lodge # 211, Hejaz Temple, Columbia and was a member of the Kershaw Lions Club. Mr. Adams also served as a Silver Haired Legislator, Lancaster delegation and had served as Mayor of the Town of Kershaw. He also was a member of the Clemson IPTAY Club for over 50 years. He was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret Delilah Hinson Adams of 57 years this past July 10. Surviving are his daughter, Billie Thompson and her husband Wade of Columbia; his son, Bob Adams and his wife Marcia of Irmo; 5 grandchildren, Julia Thompson, Trey Thompson, Alex Adams, J.D. Thompson and Nicholas Adams; 3 sisters, Esther Marshall and Jean Ogburn both of Kershaw and Sybil Neal and her husband Rev. Dr. Archie Neal of Heath Springs and a number of nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends, Tuesday, December 17, 2013, from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. at Baker Funeral Home . Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church, P.O.
