William E. "Billy" Watson

Funeral Services for William E. “Billy” Watson, 82 of Kershaw, will be held at 3:00 o’clock p.m., Saturday, October 26, 2019, in the sanctuary of Kershaw Second Baptist Church. The Revs. Dr. Jason Moss and Ronnie Hinson will officiate. Burial will follow the service in the Kershaw City Cemetery.

Mr. Watson died, Wednesday, October 23, at his home. Born in Kershaw, he was a son of the late Henry Graham Watson and Mary Olive W. Watson. Mr. Watson was a faithful member of Kershaw Second Baptist Church and served in the United States Army Reserves for 6 years. Mr. Watson started his career as Superintendent for the Town of Kershaw Water Department and later he opened and operated Watson Plumbing Co. where he later added heating, cooling and electrical services. He was employed with DuPont and Archer Daniels Midland Co. Mr. Watson along with his wife, also opened, Something Special Gift Shop in Kershaw. At the end of his career, his employment included contract electrical construction. He was a volunteer fireman for the Kershaw Fire Department for 26 years and served as their Chief. As a member of Kershaw Second Baptist Church, he served as a deacon and Building and Grounds coordinator and in many other various capacities.

Surviving are his loving wife of 63 years, Nancy Scott Watson; a daughter, Lynn W. Powers and her husband, Earl of Heath Springs; a son, William E. “Bill” Watson, II and his wife, Jeannie Coker of Camden; 3 grandchildren, Michael Rodgers and his wife, Megan ; Kristin Rodgers and Paige Watson and her canine constant companion, Ruger; 5 great grandchildren, Tucker , Alyssa, Carson, Trotter and Ellie; a sister, Myra W. West and her husband Johnny and a brother, Doug Watson and his wife Sandra. Also surviving are a number of nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Melissa W. Hopkins; a sister, Mary Lou Watson and a brother, Buddie Graham Watson.

The family will receive friends, Friday, October 25, from 6:00 to 8:00 o’clock p.m. at Baker Funeral Home and other times at the home.
