A funeral service to celebrate the life of William Bryant “Will” Fersner, 31, of Marion SC and formerly of Kershaw, SC will be held at 1:00 p.m., Friday, April 26, 2013, at First Baptist Church, 210 N. Matson, St., Kershaw. Rev. Bert Fersner and Chaplain Steve Shugart will officiate. Entombment will follow with military honors in the Kershaw City Cemetery. A celebration of Will’s life will be held Sunday, April 28, 2013, at 3:00 pm in Mullins Presbyterian Church, 809 Sandy Bluff Road, Mullins, SC. Mr. Fersner passed away at his home Tuesday, April 23, 2013. Born in Florence, SC, he was the son of Rev. and Mrs. Bryant Doyle (Roseanne) Fersner. “ Will” as he was known, was a paramedic with the South Carolina National Guard. He was a graduate of Andrew Jackson High School and attended USC. He was a member of Boy Scout Troop 74 and received his Eagle Scout Award. “Will” gave unselfishly and served in the United States Army serving during the Iraq Conflict. He was a member of First Baptist Church, Kershaw and a volunteer fireman with the Marion Fire Department. Surviving in addition to his parents of Kershaw are his daughter; Miss Rebekah Elizabeth Fersner of Rock Hill, a sister; Mrs. Bryan (Elizabeth Anne “Beth”) Robinson of West Columbia, maternal grandmother; Zell Rodgers Gaskin of Lake City, fiancé; Amanda Burroughs of Mullins, special friend; Cliff Wilbanks of Marion and many special uncles, aunts, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather; M. Ray Gaskin of Lake City, paternal grandparents; Mr. and Mrs. Bryant Doyle “Jackie” Fersner of Orangeburg and cousin; Joshua Gaskin of Pamplico. The family will receive friends, Thursday, April 25, 2013, in the sanctuary of First Baptist Church from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 758517, Topeka, Kansas or First Baptist Church, P.O. Box 67, Kershaw, SC 29067. The family encourages anyone or if you have a loved one with symptoms of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder to get professional help for yourself or your loved one.
