Wendell R. Payne

Wendell R. Payne, age 61, of Kershaw, S.C., passed away, Thursday morning, March 7, 2024, at MUSC Health Kershaw Medical Center, Camden, S.C., surrounded by his family. Born in Camden, S.C., he was a son of the late Mendell S. and Iva Lee Price Payne. Wendell was a supervisor in the retail industry. He was a member of Haile Gold Mine Baptist Church. Wendell loved to travel to the beach and spend time with his grandchildren. He was also an avid Clemson Football fan.

He is survived by his sister, Brenda P. Dixon and her husband, Chris; 2 brothers, Benny Payne and his wife, Cindy and Todd Payne and his wife, Linda; 2 grandchildren, Josh, and Nick; a great granddaughter, Vivian and 2 stepchildren, Nikki, and Eric. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death his wife, Sharron Payne and his son, Brandon Payne.

Wendell will be laid to rest privately next to his parents in Haile Gold Mine Baptist Church Cemetery.
