Wendell Ervin Sowell

Graveside services for Wendell Ervin Sowell, 68 of Kershaw will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, October 12, 2013, in Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church Cemetery, Jefferson, SC. Rev. Terry Corder will officiate. Mr. Sowell died Wednesday, October 9, 2013, at his home. Born in the Mt. Pisgah Community of Kershaw, he was the son of the late James William “J.W.” and Evelyn Catoe Sowell. Mr. Sowell was a former foreman for Zachary Construction Co. He also served his country in United States Army during the Vietnam Era. Surviving are his wife, Betty Sue Byers Sowell of the home; his sister, Beth Sowell Morgan and her husband Tom of Tallahassee, FL; 5 sons, Dee Loucks of Anniston, AL, Mark Loucks of Greer, Gary Loucks of Atlanta, GA, Kevin Sowell of Kershaw, Billy Sowell of Kershaw; 10 grandchildren, Meagan Loucks, Kimberly Loucks, Will Sowell, Hannah Sowell, Sean Sowell, Kaleb Lackey, Mari Elizabeth Sowell, Konner Loucks, Alyssa Sowell and Carson Sowell and 2 nephews, Tim Brown and Reid Brown. He was preceded in death by a grandson, Preston Warren Sowell and a brother, James William “Jimmy” Sowell. The family will receive friends immediately following the service in the church family life center and other times at the home of his son and daughter-in-law, 1570 Threatt Rd. Kershaw.
