A funeral service for Wayne Cleveland Cooper, 80, of Heath Springs, will be held at 11:00 o’clock a.m., Thursday, August 24, in the sanctuary of Pineview Baptist Church, Kershaw. The Rev. Hank Fanning will officiate. Burial will follow in the Beaverdam Baptist Church cemetery, Cassatt.
Mr. Cooper died Sunday evening, August 20, at KershawHealth, Camden. Born in Camden, he was a son of the late Grover Cleveland “Jack” Cooper and Mary Blanche Threatt Cooper. He was a former supervisor with Kendall Mills before his retirement. He served his country in the US Army during the Korean conflict and was a member of Pineview Baptist Church. Mr. Cooper loved to fish, camp and work in his garden.
Surviving are his wife Mary Alice Williams Cooper of the home; 2 daughters, Lynn Cooper Lashley and her husband Duane of Sumter, Donna Cooper Langley and her husband Keith of Camden; step-son, Charles W. Sullivan and his wife Judy of Heath Springs; 5 grandchildren, Ronny Avallone, Amber Lashley, Jessica Houle, Kayla Langley and Jessica Langley; 3step-grandchildren, Michael Sullivan, Wesley Sullivan and Joseph Sullivan; 7 great grandchildren, Zayleigh Gray, Nole Houle, Kendall Furniss, Lyla Simpson, Ashton Brazell, Liam Moseley and McKenzie Davidson; 3 step-great grandchildren, Tyler Sullivan, Zachary Sullivan and Jace Sullivan; his sister, Jean Cooper Chandler and her husband Lester of Kernersville, NC and his brother, Jackie Cooper and his wife Sharon of Camden. He was preceded in death by a step-son, Donald Sullivan and a step-grandson, Daniel Sullivan.
The family will receive friends Thursday, August 24, one hour prior to the service beginning at 10:00 o’clock a.m., in the church Family Life Center and other times at the home.
Memorial contributions in memory of Mr. Cooper may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
