Walter Preston Davis, Jr.

Funeral services for Walter Preston W.P. Davis, Jr., will be held at 3:00 P.M. Friday, October 3, 2008, in the chapel of Baker Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Bethany Baptist Church Cemetery. Rev. Craigan Blankenship will officiate.

Born in Westville, he was the son of the late Walter Preston and Lula Livingston Davis. Mr. Davis died Tuesday, September 30, 2008, in Life Care Center of Charleston. He was a US World War II Navy Veteran and a member of Bethany Baptist Church. Mr. Davis enjoyed coaching girls softball teams and was an avid hunter and fisherman.

Surviving are a son; Bruce Davis of Lancaster, a daughter; Terri Davis of Garden City Beach, two grandchildren; Bobby Knight, Jr., Lori Ann (Hoke) Davis both of Lancaster, three great grandchildren, a brother; Robert N. Davis of Atlanta, Georgia, a sister; Elizabeth Rutledge of Lancaster and a sister-in-law; Louise Davis of Pageland. Mr. Davis is also survived by his former wife; Helen Bowers Davis of Lancaster. He was preceded in death by a daughter; Helen Annolyn Knight and a brother; Freddie S. Davis.

The family will receive friends, Friday, October 3, 2008, from 2 to 3 P.M. prior to the service at the funeral home.
