Walter David Reeves, 91, of Heath Springs, passed away, Saturday, January 9, 2021, at his home. Born in Heath Springs, he was a son of the late James Otis Reeves and Dottie Lee Adams Reeves. He retired from DuPont Co. and was a charter member of Oakhurst Baptist Church. Mr. Reeves was an avid outdoorsman. He enjoyed all types of hunting and loved feeding his squirrels. He also served in the United States Merchant Marines.
Surviving is his loving wife of 70 years, Dora Reeves; 2 daughters, Sandra Marlene (Douglas) Catoe, Diane (Edward) Freeman; a son, Bobby (Bridget) Reeves; 7 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren. He is also survived by 3 brothers, Elliott (Betty Jean) Reeves, Bankson (Mary Ann) Reeves and Clyburn Reeves; a sister, Hilda (Jerry) Williams; 2 sisters-in-law, Barbara Reeves and Ruby (Byron) Holley. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Mitchell Reeves and 2 sisters, Nancy Bell and Ethel Williams.
Memorial contributions in memory of Mr. Reeves may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
A private family graveside service will be held in Oakhurst Baptist Church Cemetery. Rev. John Rogers will officiate. Burial will follow in the cemetery.
