Walter Hurley Craig, Jr.

Walter Hurley “Walt” Craig, Jr., age 57 of Kershaw, S.C., passed away at his home on Saturday, June 22, 2024, after a valiant, nearly six-month struggle with glioblastoma.  

He was born in Lancaster, S.C. on December 20, 1966, to Melody Clyburn Craig and the late Walter Hurley Craig, Sr. Walt was a 1985 graduate of Andrew Jackson High School and attended Clemson University. He was the former co-owner of the Blue Hurricane Bar and Grill in Lancaster, S.C. for several years and was the owner of the Palmetto Grill in the Elgin community before his retirement due to health reasons. He is survived by his daughter, Gleynnda Craig Miller and her husband John; his sister, Tracey Craig; his mother, Melody Craig; two grandsons, John “JJ” Miller, Jr. and Aiden Miller; a niece, Sloane Taylor and her husband Austin, and a nephew, Caden Craig Taylor.  

A graveside service for the family and close friends was held Wednesday morning in Kershaw City Cemetery. Rev. Todd Montgomery officiated. The burial followed in the Craig family plot.  

In lieu of flowers, memorials made be made to Pleasant Plain Baptist Church, 3795 Pleasant Plains Road, Kershaw, S.C. 29067.
