Funeral service for Walter Belton West, 81, of 3927 Red Doc Road, Lancaster, will be held at 4:00 P.M. Thursday, August 14, 2008, in the Chapel of Baker Funeral Home, Kershaw. Burial will follow in the Kershaw City Cemetery.
Mr. West died Tuesday, August 12, 2008, at his home. Born in Kershaw, he was the son of the late Henry James and Henrietta Williams West. Mr. West was retired from Springs Engineering and was a member of Bethany Baptist Church, Westville where he had served as a deacon. He was also a member of Abney Masonic Lodge # 211 and Jamil Temple. Mr. West enjoyed the time he spent on Lake Wateree.
Surviving are his wife Stella Funderburk-West of the home, one daughter; Sharon W. Baker and her husband J.T. of Lake Wateree, one step-son; Troy Funderburk of Lancaster, one step-daughter; Kimberly Sue Funderburk of Charlotte, one grandson; Stacey Baker and his wife Amanda of Heath Springs, three great grandchildren; Dylan Baker, Miles Baker and Pierce Funderburk, one sister; Edna West Bowers of Kershaw, . He was predeceased by his fist wife Mary McInvaille West in 1979, a grandson; Stephen Baker, five brothers; Julius West, Billy West, Reuben West, James Henry West, Steve Sam West and three sisters; Ruth West, Elizabeth Cauthen and Geneva Sowell
The family will receive friends Wednesday, August 13, 2008,from 6 to 8 P.M. at Baker Funeral Home, Kershaw.
