Funeral services for Virginia Boatright Meeks Ernest, 83, will be held Sunday, December 6, at 3:00 p.m. at Bethel United Methodist Church. Rev. Barbara Segars will officiate. Burial will be at 1:00 p.m. Monday, December 7, at Bonaventure Cemetery, Savannah, Georgia. The family will receive friends at the church Fellowship Hall following the service Sunday, December 6. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Bethel United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 275, Bethune, SC 29009 or Hospice Care of Tri-County, 2039 W. DeKalb Street, Camden, SC 29020.
Mrs. Ernest died Thursday, December 3, at her home. Born in Swainsboro, Georgia, she was the daughter of the late Willie Royal and Lizzie Lucile Silvey Boatright. Mrs. Ernest was a retired bookkeeper from Union Camp Co. and a member of Bethel United Methodist Church. She enjoyed visiting with her friends and reading.
Surviving are a son-in-law; Marshall Stokes of Bethune, a daughter-in-law Pam Meeks of Pawleys Island and her daughter; Tonya Reese of San Antonio, TX, and nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Ernest was predeceased by a daughter, Carlene M. Stokes, a son, Donald Stewart Meeks, her first husband, Carl Stewart Meeks, and her second husband, Chuck Ernest.
