Graveside services for Verda Mae Mobley Steele, 93, of Kershaw, will be held at 2:30 p.m., Thursday, September 22, 2011, in Kershaw City Cemetery. Rev. Jesse Hegler will officiate. Mrs. Steele, widow of William McDonald Steele died Monday evening, September 19, in White Oak Manor, Lancaster. Born in Kershaw, she was the daughter of the late Jessie Hammond and Florence Floyd Mobley. She retired from Lancaster County School District where she taught Business Education. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Kershaw. She also was a member of the Virgie Estridge Circle at the church and received a Honorary Life Membership for Presbyterian Women. Mrs. Steele was a graduate of Limestone College. Surviving are daughters; Dale S. Hegler (Theron) of Isle of Palms, Donna Steele of Lancaster, grandchildren; Will Hegler (Larkin) of Mt. Pleasant, Ginny H. Carson (Edmund) of Charleston, great grandchildren; Mary Larkin Hegler, Clayton Hegler, Amelia Carson and Sam Carson. She was preceded in death by brothers; Garrett Mobley, Sr., Robert A. Mobley, sisters; Jessie Lee M. Williams and Jean M. Cook. The family will receive friends Thursday prior to the service from 1:00 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. at Baker Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to First Presbyterian Church, P.O.
