Verda Broughton Roberts

Funeral services for Verda Broughton Roberts, 78, will be held Thursday, April 29, at 2:00 p.m. at Buffalo Baptist Church with burial to follow in the church cemetey. Rev. James Way and Rita Roberts will officiate. The family will receive friends prior to the service at 1:00 p.m. at Buffalo Baptist Church. Mrs. Roberts died Tuesday, April 27. Born in Kershaw, she was the daughter of the late Furman Franklin and Eva Williams Broughton. Mrs. Roberts had retired as the branch manager of Federal Credit Union, Fort Fisher, N.C.. She was a faithful member of Buffalo Baptist Church where she served in various capacities.

Surviving are her husband, James Olin Roberts; sons, Michael Olin Roberts (Karen) of Sedalia, MO, Tony Phillip Roberts (Carla) of Hampstead, NC, Jimmy Donald Roberts (Candy) of Kernersville, NC, and Joel Franklin Roberts (DawnAnne) of Carolina Beach, NC; 13 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren; sister, Shirley Phillips of Kershaw; brothers, Henry Broughton of Lancaster and Furman Broughton of Kershaw. She was predeceased by a son, Myron Kenneth Roberts and brother, Hilliard Broughton.
