Vera Lou Clyburn Phillips, 93, of Kershaw, S.C., passed away, Monday, May 23, 2022, at White Oak Manor- Lancaster, S.C. Born in Westville, S.C., she was a daughter of the late Stephen William Clyburn and Vermel Truesdale Clyburn. Mrs. Phillips was graduate of Baron DeKalb High School, a service representative for 25 years with Southern Bell Telephone Company and worked for Farm Credit Services for 14 years. She was a member of First Baptist Church. She enjoyed playing golf, bowling and traveling the world.
She is survived by 2 sisters-in-law, Joan Clyburn and Glenda Clyburn; a sister-in-law and brother-in-law on her late husband’s side of the family, Peggy and Charles Rowell and several nieces and nephews including John and Karen Phillips and Scott and Kelly Phillips who loving cared for her. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her former husband, Raeford Dewey Phillips; 3 brothers, W.R. “Bill” Clyburn, Stephen Clyburn and Mendel Lee Clyburn; a sister, Katherine Gardner, special niece, Paula Gardner and her husband’s brother and his wife, Frank and Carolyn Phillips.
A graveside service will be held at 12:00 noon, Thursday, May 26, 2022, in Kershaw City Cemetery. Rev. Bryant D. Fersner will officiate. Burial will follow in the cemetery.
The family will greet friends immediately following the service in the cemetery.
