Velma Williams, 92, of 2047 Iron Oaks Dr., Van Wyck, SC, went to her final home in heaven on April 16, 2024.
She leaves her loving husband, Olin “Tommy” Williams; three sons, Glenn DeYoung and wife Janet of Parrish FL, Dale DeYoung of Uxbridge, MA, Larry DeYoung, and wife Debbie of Uxbridge MA, one daughter Kathy DeYoung Paradise and husband John of Charlotte, NC, she was preceded in death by son Roland Farrar, Jr.; she also leaves seven grandchildren whom she cherished and eight great grandchildren.
Born in Whitinsville, MA to Joseph and Hilda (Ebbeling) VandenAkker. She is survived by one sister, Gladys Nydam of Whitinsville; half-brother, Joseph VandenAkker of Grandville, MI and half-sister, Gertrude Vosteen of Jacksonville, FL; preceded in death by her brothers, Mike VandenAkker, George VandenAkker, and half-sister Heidi Williams.
Velma enjoyed gardening with a love for yellow flowers. Her family was most precious to her. She had a passion for playing the piano and organ. She played for several churches for their church services, weddings, and funerals.
A memorial service to remember her life will be held May 11, 2024, at 11:00 AM at Trinity Presbyterian Church, PCA in Van Wyck. A private graveside service will be held at Taylors Grove Baptist Church in Lancaster.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Agape Care SC, 311 B North Main St. Lancaster, SC 29720.
