A memorial service for Tommy Anthony Woodward, 59, of Heath Springs, will be held at 12:00 noon, Saturday, April 14, 2012, in Abney Baptist Church, Kershaw. The Revs. Curtis Cameron, Kelvin Hinson and Eric Boone will officiate. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service beginning at 11:00 a.m. in the sanctuary. Mr. Woodward died Thursday, April 12, in Springs Memorial Hospital, Lancaster. Born in Rock Hill, he was the son of the late Johnny and Etta Teal Woodward. He retired from Carolina Cargo as a heavy duty truck mechanic and was a member of Abney Baptist Church. He also enjoyed fishing and spending time with his children and grandchildren. Mr. Woodward served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict and was a Purple Heart Recipient. Surviving are his wife of 42 years, Kathy Horne Woodward; daughter, Susan W. Hilton (Timothy) of Heath Springs; son, Tony Woodward (Diana) of Kershaw; 6 grandchildren, Erica Woodward, Meagan Woodward, Dustin Woodward, Devin Woodward, Allen Woodward, Jacob Woodward; 2 great grandchildren, Bryson Woodward and Destinee Lucas; 2 brothers, Robert Woodward (Renee) , Johnny Woodward (Laurie) all of Lancaster; sister, Lori Bowers (Phillip) of Heath Springs; daughter-in-law, Amy Woodward of Heath Springs and special canine friend “Peanut”. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Phyllis Talbert and a son, Jeffrey L. Woodward Memorial contributions may be made to Abney Baptist Church, 5180 Roberts Rd., Kershaw, S.C. 29067.
