Thomas Grady Carnes

Thomas Grady Carnes, age 72, of Lancaster, S.C., passed away Wednesday, August 30, 2023, in Lancaster Health and Rehabilitation, Lancaster, S.C. Born in Lancaster, S.C., he was a son of the late Heber Nathan Carnes, Sr. and Christine Plott Carnes.

Mr. Carnes loved Go-Kart racing and model cars. He enjoyed the time he spent at Lancaster Speedway, Indian Land Go-Kart track and Hanging Rock track. He was always up for a practical joke and a chew of tobacco. He never would give up the opportunity for RC Cola or vanilla ice cream.

He is survived by his sister, Barbara C. Threatt and his brother, Heber Nathan (Denise) Carnes, Jr.; 4 nephews, Keith (Sydney) Threatt, II, John (Chelsea) Carnes, III, James (Kayla) Carnes and Nathan Carnes, III; a niece, Chris (Gerald) Threatt; 4 great nephews, Nick Threatt, Henry Carnes, K.J. Carnes and Jimmy Snipes; his special cousin, Kenny (Lynn) Plott and special friend who was like a sister, Jodi McConnell.

A gathering will be held from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m., Sunday, September 3, 2023, at Baker Funeral Home, 210 East Hilton Street, Kershaw, S.C.

Mr. Carnes unselfishly chose to donate his body to The Anatomy Foundation to help others.

The family is at the home of Mrs. Barbara Threatt.
