Thelma Catoe Deas

Funeral services for Thelma Catoe Deas, 85 of Mt. Pleasant, N.C. and formerly of Kershaw, S.C. will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, January 25, 2014, at Abney Baptist Church, Kershaw. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The Revs. David Turner and Doug Humphries will officiate. Mrs. Deas, loving wife of 71 years to Luke Deas, Sr. died Wednesday, January 22, 2014, at Carolinas Medical Center -Norhteast, Concord, N.C. She was born April 14, 1928 to James Manley and Viola Brasington Catoe. She was retired from Arbor Acres and a member of Abney Baptist Church, Kershaw. She also enjoyed fishing, crocheting and quilting. Surviving in addition to her husband of Mt. Pleasant are 3 sons, Bobby J. Dease of Kannapolis, N.C., Luke Dease, Jr. of Kershaw, Don E. Dease of Jasper. GA.; 4 daughters, Patricia Wright of Kershaw, Pamela Plyler of Jefferson, S.C., Polly Pless of Mt. Pleasant, N.C. and Brenda Teems of Talking Rock, GA. She was a grandmother to 16, a great grandmother to 22 and a great-great grandmother to 2. She was preceded in death by a son, Billy Ray Dease of GA. and 2 grandchildren, Christopher and Kimberly Dease. The family will receive friends from 12:00 noon to 12:45 p.m. at the church prior to the service on Saturday. Memorials may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
