Sylvia Jean Vincent Gardner

Funeral services for Sylvia Jean Vincent Gardner, 72, will be held Saturday, August 3, 2013, at 3:00 p.m. in Thorn Hill Baptist Church with burial to follow in the church cemetery. Rev. Steve Mackey will officiate. Memorials may be made to Thorn Hill Baptist Church, 2587 Kershaw Country Club Road, Heath Springs, S.C. 29058 or Tri-County Hospice, 2039 W. DeKalb Street, Camden, S.C. 29020. The family will receive friends, Friday, August 2, 2013, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Baker Funeral Home and other times at the home, 6317 Flat Rock Rd., Heath Springs, S.C. Mrs. Gardner died Wednesday, July 31, 2013, at her home. Born in Kershaw, she was the daughter of the late Hagood Wilson and Margaret Faulkenberry Vincent. Mrs. Gardner retired from Bi-Lo after 35 years of service. She was a member of Thorn Hill Baptist Church and a graduate of Heath Springs High School where she was a member of the basketball team. Mrs. Gardner enjoyed walking and loved to read. Surviving are her husband of 53 years, Gary Allen Gardner; three children, Jeffrey Wayne Gardner and his special friend, Anne, of Heath Springs, Gwynn Leaird and her husband, Steve, of Kershaw, and Gary Dean Gardner and wife, Cathy, of Heath Springs; five grandchildren; a sister, Judy Faulkenberry of Kershaw and two brothers, Pete Vincent of Alvin, Texas, and Billy Vincent of Heath Springs. She was predeceased by a grandson, Joseph Hall.
