Steven L. "Squib" Roberts

Steven Lewis “Squib” Roberts, age 64, of Kershaw, S.C., passed away in the comfort of his home, Saturday morning, January 20, 2024, surrounded by his loving family. Born in Lancaster, S.C., he was a son of the late Robbie E. Roberts and Maxine Sowell Roberts. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Dale Roberts.

He is survived by his wife of 32 years, Angela T. Roberts; three children, Matthew (Stephanie) Bryson, Mary Rebecca “Bec” Stephens and Robbie (Danielle) Roberts; eight grandchildren; Alex, Landon, Connor, and Aubrey Bryson and Christian, Carter and Cole Stephens and Myles Roberts. He is also survived by three siblings, Dennis (Frances ”Bunchie”) Roberts, Mike Roberts and Karen Roberts; a special sister, Patty Hilton and his sister-in-law, Wendy Roberts.

Mr. Roberts was a former Army veteran and member of the military during peacetime. He was a hardworking carpenter who loved to work outside in the sun. He also loved gardening and watching his garden grow. It was not unusual to see him riding his tractor as late as 10:00 p.m. or 11:00 p.m. at night. He never met a stranger and always loved to talk. “Squib” was an avid Carolina Gamecock fan.

The family will receive friends, Tuesday, January 23, 2024, from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. in the Flint Ridge Baptist Church, Family Life Center. The funeral service will follow the visitation beginning at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday in the Family Life Center. Rev. Sean Stroud, Mr. Bryan Funderburk and Mr. Landon Williams will officiate the service. The burial will follow in the church cemetery with military honors.
