Steve Catoe

Funeral services for Mark Steven Steve Catoe, 44, of Bethune will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, December 1, 2010 in Harmony Baptist Church, Bethune. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The Revs. Paul Stephens and Homer Hinson will officiate.

Mr. Catoe died Sunday, November 28, at his home. Born in Bethune, he was the son of Ken and Jo C. Catoe. Mr. Catoe was a graduate of the Baptist College of Charleston now Charleston Southern. He was an active member of Harmony Baptist Church were he served as church historian and clerk. He also had served as former Associational Historian. Steve volunteered as a tour guide at the Cotton Museum in Bishopville for a number of years. Steve was an advocate and gave many speeches and talks to parents whose children suffered from congenital heart defects like himself. He traveled to various locations speaking and sharing. He was an active member of the Adult Congenital Heart Association (ACHA).

Surviving are his parents; Ken and Jo Catoe of Bethune, a brother; Barry Catoe and his wife Sandra of Lugoff, two nieces; Abby and Savannah Catoe of Lugoff, aunts and uncles; Artis and George Rudd of Blythewood and Alice and Robert Catoe of Bethune.

The family will receive friends following the service in the church fellowship hall and other times at the home.
