Shirley S. Faulkenberry

Shirley Mae Sowell Faulkenberry, age 84, of Kershaw, S.C., passed away, Thursday, August 13, 2020, in White Oak Manor, Lancaster, S.C. Born in Jefferson, S.C., she was a daughter of the late Tom Sowell and Eula Faile Sowell. Mrs. Faulkenberry retired from Tic-Tac Co. in Heath Springs, S.C. She was a faithful member of Haile Gold Mine Baptist Church. Mrs. Faulkenberry also was a dedicated wife, mom, grandmother, sister and aunt. Most importantly, she loved spending time with her family.

A graveside service will be held at 11:00 o’clock a.m., Saturday, August 15, 2020, in Haile Gold Mine Baptist Church Cemetery. Rev. Dale Walters will officiate. She will be laid to rest following the graveside service next to her husband, the late Otto Wood Faulkenberry.

The family will greet friends immediately following the service in the cemetery and other times at her sister’s, Bonnie Holden’s home.

She is survived by her son, Freddie Faulkenberry and his wife, Becky; 2 sisters, Bonnie Holden and Sara Steele; her brother, David Sowell and his wife Emily and 2 grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by 2 sons, Ben Faulkenberry and Kim Faulkenberry; a grandson, Cody Faulkenberry, a sister, Mary Nell Sowell and 3 brothers, Bobby Sowell, Lloyd Sowell and J.T. Sowell.
