A graveside service for Shirley Coates Hunter, 77, of Kershaw, SC, will be held at 11:00 o’clock a.m., Friday, June 16, 2017, in the Oak Ridge Baptist Church Cemetery. Rev. Bobby James will officiate.
Mrs. Hunter, widow of Jack Nelson Hunter died Wednesday, June 14, 2017, at her daughter’s home. Born in Kershaw, SC, she was the daughter of the late William Tommy and Mabel Baker Coates. She had been a caregiver for many years and was a member of Oak Ridge Baptist
Church. She enjoyed flower gardening, working jigsaw puzzles, painting and riding her golf cart.
Surviving are her son, Stephen N. Hunter and his wife Jessie of Kershaw, SC; her daughter, Sheryl Ann Hunter of Kershaw, SC; 2 granddaughters, Shannon M. Hunter of Columbia, SC, Amy H. Young and her husband Lee; a great grandson, Trent Ryan Hunter all of Kershaw, SC; 4 sisters, Betty Jo Holcomb, Joan Johnson, Annette Faile and her husband Quincy, Geraldine Truesdale and her husband Lonnie and 2 brothers, Doug Coates and Val Coates all of Kershaw, SC; her special grand dog, Jackson Hunter and a number of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by 3 brothers, Hazel, Larry and Tommy Coates, Jr.
The family will receive friends anytime at the home of her granddaughter, 3633 Hunter Rd., Kershaw, SC.
