Shelby Jean Hightower

Shelby Jean Robinson Hightower, age 86 of Kershaw, S.C., passed away, Tuesday, March 26, 2024, at MUSC Downtown, Columbia, S.C. Born in Kershaw, S.C., she was a daughter of the late Carl Leonard Robinson, Sr., and Virginia Horton Robinson. She was a nurse and a faithful member of Pineview Baptist Church. She served her church in many capacities and was a dedicated Sunday School teacher. Mrs. Hightower was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, and friend. She cherished the time she spent with her family.

She is survived by her loving husband of 65 years, Haskell Harold Hightower, her daughter, Norma H. Robinson and her husband, Mark; her son, Alan Hightower and his wife, Bobbie; 4 grandchildren, Brandi Hinson and her husband, Keith, Heather Derrick and her husband, Chuck, Travis Robinson and Sarah Truesdell and her husband, Jeremy; 9 great grandchildren, Morgan, Sam, Noah, Caleb, Corbin, Harper, Slayton, Jetston and Joseph; 2 sisters, Eleanor Driskell and Barbara Busbee and her husband, Don; 4 brothers, Carl L. Robinson, Jr. and his wife, Marlene, Larry Robinson and his wife, Pat, Raymond Robinson and his wife, Joyce and Roland Robinson and his wife, Sally; her brother-in-law, Roger Thompson and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by 3 sisters, Rita Robinson, Vivian Hightower, and Karen Thompson.

A service to remember her life will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, March 30, 2024, in the sanctuary of Pineview Baptist Church. The Revs. Hank Fanning, Keith Hinson and Veldee Hightower will officiate. The family will greet friends immediately following the service in the church Family Life Center and other times at her home. Mrs. Hightower will be laid to rest in the Fort Jackson National Cemetery, Columbia, S.C.
