Sarah E. Hunter

A funeral service for Sarah Elizabeth Hunter, 83 of Kershaw, will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, January 12, 2015, in the chapel of Baker Funeral Home. The Revs. Joe Stines and Bobby James will officiate. Burial will follow in the Oak Ridge Baptist Church Cemetery. Mrs. Hunter died Friday, January 9, 2015, in Springs Memorial Hospital, Lancaster, SC. Born in Kershaw County, she was a daughter of the late Samuel Haile and Carrie Knight Hunter. She retired from Springs Industries after 37 years of service and was a faithful member of Oak Ridge Baptist Church. She was married to the late George Hunter. Surviving are her daughter, Susan H. Truesdale and her husband Ronnie of Westville, SC; three sons, R. Dennis Hunter, Steven W. Hunter and his wife Sherry, Ronnie H. Hunter and his wife Theresa all of Kershaw, SC; thirteen grandchildren and a number of great grandchildren. She is also survived by a sister, Dorothy Baker and a brother, Charles Hunter both of Kershaw. She was preceded in death by four sisters, Ella Williams, Lillie Ogburn, Viola Cole and Phyllis Cook and three brothers, Carl E. “Buck” Hunter, Paul Hunter and Joe Hunter. The family will receive friends one prior to the service beginning at 1:00 p.m. Monday, January 12, at the funeral home and other times at her home, 603 Whitley Street, Kershaw .
