Ruth Ellis Williams age 96, of Kershaw, S.C. and beloved wife of the late John Carl Williams was welcomed into the arms of Jesus, on Monday evening, April 21, 2025. Born in the Flat Creek community of Kershaw, S.C. on November 5, 1928, to the late Andrew Jackson Ellis and Lela Phillips Ellis. Mrs. Williams retired from Springs Industries.
She put her faith in God and her family in the forefront of her life. A Godly woman and devoted member of Kershaw Church of God, she loved her church and her family. She served her church in many capacities along with her late husband. She could be found prior to Christmas each year helping make peanut brittle for the church fundraiser every Christmas holiday. She enjoyed the Church of God Camp Meeting in Mauldin, S.C. where she maintained a home at the campground. Mrs. Williams loved reading her bible daily, working word searches and gardening.
She leaves behind to cherish her memory, her daughter, Andrea Williams Bass and her husband, Bobby; her son -in-law, Dennis Winburn and his wife, Sylvia; her grandchildren Brittany (Ray) Lema, Benjamin (Hannah) Bass, Stacey Huggins and Dawn Saxon; her great grandchildren, Dante Bass, Asher Lema, Lucina Bass, Summer (Luke) Byrd, Hayden (Kelly Ann) Saxon, Autumn (T.J.) Kemmerlin, Austin Huggins, and Alex Huggins; her great - great grandchildren, Wade Byrd and Blakely Byrd; her sister, Diane E. (James) Sims; her sisters-in-law, Sara Ellis, Betty Williams, Margie Reese, Pauline Redick, Pauline Williams and her brothers-in-law, Jimmy Cauthen and Jerry Bradley. She is also survived by 2 special nephews, Timmy Stroud and Dino Sims who enjoyed visiting her.
In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death her daughter, Carlene Windburn; a granddaughter, Sandra Denise Winburn; sisters, Iva Mae Bowers, Vivian Cauthen, Margie Conyers, Vera Lee Langley, Bonnie E. Snipes and Elizabeth Waites and brothers, L.J. Ellis and Gene Ellis.
The family will receive friends, Friday morning, April 25, 2025, from 10:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M. in BAKER CONFERENCE CENTER, 105 North Minor Street, Kershaw, S.C. 29067.
A funeral service to honor her life will be held immediately following the visitation in the CONFERENCE CENTER beginning at 11:00 A.M. The Rev. Dennis Buchanan and Pastor Tyler Nations will officiate the home going service.
The burial will follow in the Bethany Baptist Church Cemetery, Westville, S.C.
Memorial contributions in memory of Mrs. Williams may be made to Kershaw Church of God, P.O. Box 621, Kershaw, S.C. 29067.
