Funeral services for Ruby Mobley Bowers, 93, of Kershaw, will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, May 1, 2012, in Oakhurst Baptist Church, Heath Springs. Burial will follow in the Bethany Baptist Church Cemetery, Westville. The Revs. John Rogers and Charlie Cauthen will officiate. Mrs. Bowers, widow of Sam Bowers died Saturday, April 28, at her home. Born in Kershaw County, she was the daughter of the late Walter Melvin and Lola Mae Catoe Mobley. She retired from Springs Industries and was a member of Oakhurst Baptist Church. Mrs. Bowers was a volunteer with K.A.R.E. and had been a wonderful foster parent. Surviving are her daughter, Mary Ann Thomas of Kershaw, granddaughter; Terry Thomas of Kershaw; step-granddaughter, Glenda Thomas of Camden; step-great granddaughter, Angie Thomas Woodard of Camden; step-great grandson, Gage Woodard of Camden; a sister, Annie Grace Knight of Heath Springs. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Betty Doris Bowers; 3 sisters, Thelma McCaskill, Jeanette Bowers, Jeaneal Robinson and a brother, Walter Berry Mobley. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service beginning at 1:00 pm. in the church fellowship hall and other times at the home, 6125 Lola Drive, Kershaw. Memorial contributions may be made to Oakhurst Baptist Church, 394 Barrett Road, Heath Springs, S.C. 29058.
