Mrs. Ruby Horton Stover, 94, of Heath Springs, widow of the late David Woodrow “Top” Stover, died Thursday, September 1, 2011 at her home. Born May 15, 1917 in Kershaw County, she was a daughter of the late Mary Elizabeth Bowers and James Ervin Horton. She was a homemaker, a devoted wife and loving Mother. Mrs. Stover enjoyed gardening, reading and quilting and was a member of Oakhurst Home Demonstration Club. She was a member of Heath Springs Baptist Church for many years where she served as President of the Women’s Missionary Union, Sunday School Teacher and church hostess. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by three brothers and five sisters. Survivors are her two sons, Milton (Martha) Stover, Lanny (Linda) Stover, seven daughters, Brenda (Jimmy) Horton, Emily (Robert) McDow all of Heath Springs, Dianna (Jerry) Clements, Kathy (Joe) Catledge of Lancaster, Shelby (Arthur) Gross, “Maggie” Rigby, (Fitz Rutherford) of Columbia, SC, and Delores ”Lucy” (John) Holden of Canton, Michigan, 21 grandchildren and 29 great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 3, 2011 at 11:00 A.M. at Heath Springs Baptist Church. The family will receive friends following the service in the church fellowship hall. Burial will held prior to the service privately in Salem Cemetery, Heath Springs. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Heath Springs Baptist Church Building Fund, P.O. Box 400, Heath Springs, SC 29058-0400.
