A graveside service for Ruby Doris Whitley Green, 72 of Kershaw will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, June 14, 2014 in Laurel Hill Baptist Church Cemetery. Rev. Bobby James will officiate. Mrs. Green died Wednesday, June 11, 2014 at her home. Born in Kershaw, she was the daughter of the late Thomas Wylie “Tom” and Ethel Bowers Whitley. She retired from Springs Industries after 27 years of service and was a member of Laurel Hill Baptist Church. She also enjoyed fishing and taking trips to the mountains. Surviving are 4 sons, Buddy Crenshaw and his wife Chris of Fort Lawn, Scott L. Byrd and his wife Janet Kay of Kershaw, Christopher Byrd and his wife Margie of Cassatt, Phillip “Buck” Byrd and his wife Carsie of Kershaw; 11 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; 4 sisters, Mattie Sue Allman, Elizabeth ”Lib” Catoe, Joann Catoe and her husband Will, Dottie Vincent and her husband Larry ; 2 brothers, Oscar Eugene “Gene” Whitley and his wife Darlene and Richard Whitley and his wife Doris. She was preceded in death by a brother, John Thomas Whitley. The family will receive friends, Friday, June 13, from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. at Baker Funeral Home and other times at the home, 337 East Third Street, Kershaw. Memorial contributions in memory of Mrs. Green may be made to Laurel Hill Baptist Church, Post Office Box 373, Kershaw, SC 29067.
