Roger David Hilton, 73 of Rock Hill and formerly of Kershaw passed away, Saturday, March 7, in Piedmont Medical Center, Rock Hill. Born in Kershaw, he was a son of the late John Thomas Hilton and Tressie Mae Catoe Hilton. He retired from Johnson Mills and was a United States Army veteran serving during the Vietnam era. He was a member of Center Grove Baptist Church, Kershaw and an avid sports fan, especially Carolina Gamecocks. He also enjoyed watching old movies, working in his flower beds, fishing and spending time with his grandchildren.
He is survived by 3 children, Christopher D. (Laurel) Hilton of Rock Hill, Robert D. Hilton of Rock Hill and Amanda J. (Willie Thomas Johnson) Bass of Lancaster; 10 grandchildren, Cole Hilton, Carter Hilton, Kensly Hilton, Robert “Buckshot” Hilton, Billy Hilton, Tressie Mae Hilton, Alex Bass, Daniel Hullinger, Jr., James Hullinger and Emerald Bell; a sister, Kathy (Foster) Faile of Swansea; and 3 brothers, John Franklin “Frankie” (Ann) Hilton of Florida, Robert “Robbie” Hilton of Belmont, N.C. and James B. “Jimmy” Hilton of Kershaw.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Michael Hilton; 2 brothers, Paul Hilton, Thomas “Tommy” Hilton and a sister, Rebecca Jane Hilton.
His funeral service will be conducted, Thursday, March 12, at 11:00 o’clock a.m. in the sanctuary of Center Grove Baptist Church, Kershaw by the Rev. Dr. Samuel Catoe. Burial will follow the service in the Laurel Hill Cemetery, Kershaw.
The family will receive friends, Wednesday evening, March 11, from 5:00 to 7:00 o’clock p.m. at Baker Funeral Home, Kershaw.
