Roddy Bowers

Graveside services for Roddy Lee “Pops” Bowers, 67 of Westville will be held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, November 18, at Refuge Baptist Church Cemetery. The Revs. Don Knight, Michael Arant and Mr. Michael Byrd will officiate. Mr. Bowers died Thursday, November 15, at his home. Born in Westville, he was the son of the late Coleman and Blanche Baker Bowers. He retired from Springs Industries and also worked for Quanta-Lucy. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and was a member of Abba-Abba Hunting Club. He was preceded in death by his son; Stephen Bowers and 2 brothers; G.C. Bowers and Wayne Bowers. Surviving are his wife of 49 years; June Byrd Bowers of the home, 1 son; Roddy Bowers, Jr. and his wife Melissa of Westville, 2 grandchildren; Ashley Bowers and Brandon Bowers and 1 great grandson; Bryce Fletcher, 4 brothers; Grady Bowers, Travis (Linda) Bowers, Edward Bowers, Dennis (Stacy) Bowers, 4 sisters; Diane (George) Roberts, Voncelle (C.L.) Sims, Debra Truesdale and Vivian (Fred) Huggins all of Westville. The family will receive friends, Saturday, November 17, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Baker Funeral Home and other times at the home, 371 Payne Pond Rd., Westville. Memorials may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
