Robert Payne

On December 9, 2023, Robert W. Payne of Kershaw, S.C. entered the presence of his Lord and Savior and was reunited with many loved ones. He was a devoted husband, father, brother, grandfather, and great-grandfather.

He had been married to the love of his life, Diane Payne, for 55 years. They made their home in Kershaw, a community they dearly loved. Together, they had two sons: Teddie Payne (Lori); Eddie Payne (Greg Bearden); six grandchildren: Jessica Payne Holbrook (Taylor); McKinsey Payne Smith (Curtis); Nolan Wilson (Jasmine); Kaleigh Payne Sexton (Chevis); Alex Clark; Zach Clark; ten great-grandchildren: Laila, Payton, Lucy, Barron, Drennon, Baker, Beau, Emory, Evie Kate, and Teddie James. He is also survived by siblings Jan (Marvin), Dave (Sonya), Paul (Paula), George (Jennie), Ron (Lisa), and Deborah.

Robert was a wonderful grandfather who filled many hearts with love, life, and laughter. He will forever be remembered by his keen sense of humor. Robert especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and could always be found holding one of his great-grandchildren.

Robert served 37 years as the Maintenance Supervisor with Standard Warehouse (Kenco Logistics) before retiring in 2010. He then worked for J. Grady Randolph Inc. for 12 years as a Pilot Car Driver. He thoroughly enjoyed his time traveling the United States with his good friends and truck drivers.

He is predeceased by father, Jack Payne; mother, Ethel Payne; brothers, Harold Payne, and Jim Payne; and sisters, Linda Payne, and Kathy Payne.

The family would like to express thanks and gratitude to many close friends for their visits and loving acts of kindness.
