Services for Robert Lee Patterson, 63, will be held at 7:00 PM Sunday, May 31, in Baker Conference Center, 105 N. Minor Street, Kershaw.

Mr. Patterson died Wednesday, May 27. Born in Hollywood, CA, he was the son of the late Harry Lee and Helen Patterson. He was employed at the Kershaw Corrections Center and a Vietnam Air Force Veteran. He retired honorably from the USAF as a Sergeant First Class with a Vietnam Service Medal, National Defense Service Metal, Good Conduct Metal and Expert Marksmanship Ribbon.

Mr. Patterson went to work for South Carolina Department of Corrections in 1986 and has spent his service with the agency at Kirkland R & E, Stevenson CI, SCDC Training Academy, Goodman CI, Catawba Pre-Release and most recent at Kershaw Correctional Institution. He has received several perfect attendance awards and had been selected as officer of the month. He has been an active member of SC Law Enforcement Association since 1996, an active member of SC Correctional Association since 1991 and a active member of Correctional Peace Officers Foundation since 1998. He was an exceptional employee that took great pride in his work and treated each employee like family.

Surviving are 2 children; Kristine Patterson of Cottage Grove, OR and Kelby Patterson of Portland, OR and a brother, Carl Patterson of CA.

The family will receive friends following the service until 8:30 PM.
