Robert Gilmer, Jr.

Robert Gilmer, Jr., 86, of Kershaw, S.C., passed away, Tuesday, December 15, 2020, in Prisma Health Richland, Columbia, S.C. Born in Lancaster, S.C., he was a son of the late Robert Gilmer, Sr. and Lula Bell Robinson Gilmer.

Mr. Gilmer retired from Springs Industries after 42 years of service. He loved the outdoors and enjoyed, fishing, hunting, walking and working on appliances. He loved his family and cherished the time he spent with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

He was a faithful member of Buffalo Baptist Church, where he served in many positions and was a member of Curtis Vincent Sunday School Class.

Mr. Gilmer, “Junior” is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Betty Bailey Gilmer; 2 daughters, Launne Payne and her husband, Ronnie and Cheryl Stephens and her husband, Ray all of Kershaw, S.C.; a sister, Mary G. Broome of Kershaw, S.C. and a brother, Richard Gilmer of Florida. He was blessed to have 5 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 2 brothers, David Gilmer and Douglas Gilmer and a sister, Bobbie Hilton.

Mr. Gilmer will lie in repose for friends and family to pay their respects, Wednesday, December 16, 2020, from 2:00 to 6:00 p.m. at Baker Funeral Home.

Due to COVID-19, a private family graveside will be held in Buffalo Baptist Church Cemetery.
