Funeral services for Robert Doc R.D. Baker, 90, will be held at 2:00 P.M., Monday, January 11, at Baker Conference Center, 105 N. Minor St., Kershaw. Burial will follow in the Buffalo Baptist Church Cemetery. The Revs. Dr. John T. Cahill, Donald Tillman and James Way will officiate.
Mr. Baker died Saturday evening, January 9, at his home. Born in Kershaw, he was the son of the late Walter Howard, Sr. and Dessie Roberts Baker. He was a carpenter and was retired from Springs Industries. Mr. Baker enjoyed making knives and picture frames . He also enjoyed gardening and farming. He was a member of Buffalo Baptist Church and a US Army World War, II veteran. He was married to the late Vera Phillips Baker.
Surviving are two daughters; Wanda Sowell and Deborah A. Baker, both of Kershaw, two granddaughters; Paula Floyd of Kershaw, Christie Reeves of Anderson, three grandsons; Don Baker of Kershaw, Kevin Spillman of San Francisco, CA., and Dustin Spillman of Portland, OR., three great grandchildren; Zachary Sowell, Dalton Floyd and Autumn Reeves three brothers; Jasper Baker, Perry Baker and his wife Dot, Walter Baker, Jr. and his wife Maxine all of Kershaw and a daughter-in-law; Ernestine Baker of Kershaw, He was preceded in death by two sons; Keith Baker and Donnie Baker and a grandson; Zane Spillman.
The family will receive friends Monday, January 11, from 12:30 to 2:00 P.M. prior to the service at Baker Conference Center.
