Richard Lee "Rock" Thompson

A memorial service remembering the life of Richard Lee “Rock” Thompson, 58, of Liberty Hill, will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, October 15, in the chapel of Baker Funeral Home, Kershaw.

Mr. Thompson passed away Tuesday, October 11, at his home. Born in Greenville, S.C., he was a son of the late Thomas Neil and Katie Robinson Thompson. “Rock” as he was known, was a longtime draftsman for Springs Industries and of Baptist faith. He enjoyed spending time on Lake Wateree and boating.

Surviving are his former wife and friend, Sandra Fletcher “Sandy” Thompson of Liberty Hill; his sister, Jane Renee Thompson of Shallotte, N.C.; his sister-in-law, Linda Thompson of Heath Springs and nieces and nephews. Also surviving are his special friend, Patti Kelly and special friends, the Jamie Rowell family. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother, Kevan Thompson.

The family will receive friends immediately following the memorial service at the funeral home.
