Richard Dalton 'Dickie' Bennett

Richard Dalton “Dickie” Bennett, 59, of Mt. Pleasant, SC and formerly of Kershaw, SC died suddenly Friday, March 27, 2015, at Roper Hospital, Mt. Pleasant. Born in Lancaster, SC, he was a son of Faye West Bennett and the late Jack Evans Bennett. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, March 30, 2015, at Baker Conference Center, 105 N. Minor Street, Kershaw, SC. Entombment will follow in the Forest Lawn Memorial Park Mausoleum, Camden, SC. Rev. Jackie Jenkins will officiate and Mr. Lee McDow will provide the eulogy. Memorials in memory of Mr. Bennett may be made to the Arnold School of Public Health, University of South Carolina. Mr. Bennett held a Bachelor of Science Degree in Microbiology from Clemson University and a Master of Science of Public Health Degree in Environmental Health Science from the University of South Carolina. He was a forensic microbiologist with Risk Tech, LLC, a top provider of environmental health services. Mr. Bennett had over 30 years of experience in the industrial hygiene field and held a certified industrial hygienist certificate from the American Board of Industrial Hygiene. Mr. Bennett maintained several professional affiliations with the American Industrial Hygiene Association, served as an Adjunct Professor at the University of South Carolina School of Public Health, the American Board of Industrial Hygiene, and the Carolinas Section of the American Industrial Hygiene Association. Over the past 25 years, Mr. Bennett had served on various board of directors and committees including the National Asbestos Council, the Carolinas Section of the American Industrial Hygiene Association, and the University of South Carolina School of Public Health Business Partnership Committee. Under Mr. Bennett’s direction as a principal, most recently Risk Tech, LLC successfully completed management services and oversight of reconstruction of 42 hospitals, medical office buildings, or hospital support buildings in the aftermath of hurricanes Katrina, Rita, and Wilma. He also was a excellent pianist. Surviving in addition to his mother of Kershaw, are his wife, Karen Hinson Bennett; a daughter, Emily Bennett of New York; a son, Gregory Bennett of Bluffton ; a step-daughter, Katelyn Williams of Kershaw; 2 grandchildren; a brother, Randy Bennett and his wife Faye Greer Bennett of Boling Springs; a nephew, David Bennett, and a niece, Christy B. Adams. The family is at the home of his mother in Kershaw, SC. Baker Funeral Home is serving the Bennett family.
