Rev. Ronnie Joe Hinson, Sr., age 77 of Kershaw, S.C. gained his heavenly home, Sunday morning, April 21, 2024. Born in Camden, S.C., he was a son of the late Henry Hinson and Jewell Robinson Hinson. He retired from Georgia Pacific. He was a graduate of Kershaw High School where he was a member of the 1964 State Championship Football team. He was also known as one of Coach Bill Few’s “Big 11”. Ronnie cherished the time he spent with family and was an avid Carolina Gamecock fan and supporter. He also loved attending his grandchildren’s sports games and cheering for them. He was so proud to become a minister following his retirement. He was visitation pastor at Kershaw Second Baptist Church where he served faithfully. He always exemplified the love of Christ first.


He is survived by his faithful and loving wife of 58 years, Pat Sims Hinson; 3 children, Kim Kemmner and her husband, Barry, Kelly Phillips and her husband, Scotty and Ronnie J. “Joey” Jr. and his wife, Shea; 5 grandchildren, Chandler Kemmner, Megan Phillips and her fiancé, Grayson King, Tyler Hinson, Gavin Phillips, and Emory Hinson. He is also survived by 2 sisters, June Robertson and her husband, Eugene and Jan Fenneman and his brother, Butch Hinson and his wife, Alicia.


The family will receive friends, Wednesday morning, April 24, 2024, from 11:00 a.m. until 12:00 noon in the Kershaw Second Baptist Church Family Life Center and other times the home.


A celebration of life service will be held at 12:00 noon on Wednesday, April 24, 2024, at Kershaw Second Baptist Church. The Revs. Dr. T. Jason Moss, Jamie Rogers and Mr. Mitch Lucas will officiate. The burial will follow the service in Kershaw City Cemetery.


Pallbearers will be Shane Brewer, Billy Boan, Mitch Lucas, Bryant Neal, Scott Neal, and Dale Reeves.


Honorary Pallbearers will be members and spouses of his Sunday School Class.


Memorial contributions in memory of Mr. Hinson may be made to Kershaw Second Baptist Church 7737 Kershaw-Camden Highway, Kershaw, S.C. 29067.


Arrangements are under the care of Baker Funeral Home, Kershaw, S.C.
