A memorial service to celebrate the life of Rev. Robert Duane Jeske, 79, of Kershaw, SC will be held at 3:00 p.m. in the sanctuary of Midway Baptist Church, Saturday, January 31, 2015, where he was a member. The Reverends Todd Gandy, Larry Carter and Dr. Frankie Melton will officiate. The family will gather immediately following the service in the church Fellowship Hall for a time of sharing and visitation. Rev. Jeske died Friday, January 16, 2015, at his home in Kershaw. Born March 1, 1935, in Lind, WA, he was a son of the late Edward and Magdalena Schilke Jeske. Rev. Jeske’s education included, Central WA University, Ellensburg, WA, Western WA University, Bellingham, WA, University of Chicago, Chicago, Ill and South Eastern Seminary, Wake Forest, NC. During his tenure as a minister, Rev. Jeske had pastored at the following churches, Piedmont Baptist Church, Amelia, VA, Quankie Baptist Church, Roanoke Rapids, NC, Flat Creek Baptist Church, Kershaw, SC, New Haven Baptist Church, Kershaw, SC, Haile Gold Mine Baptist Church, Kershaw, SC, and supplied at numerous churches in Lancaster County. Rev. Jeske was also taught at the following schools, Big Bend Community College, Moses Lake, WA, Oregon Institute of Technology, Klamath Falls, OR, Andrew Jackson High School, Kershaw, SC, USCL, Lancaster, SC, York Technical College, Kershaw-Heath Springs Extension, Kershaw, SC, and Carolina Christian Academy, Lancaster, SC. Surviving are his wife of 56 and ½ years, Arlene Winegar Jeske of the home; three children, Kevin Jeske and his wife Marilyn of Columbia, SC, Kathy Odom and her husband Kenney of Newport News, VA and Richard Jeske and his wife Marlene of Lancaster, SC; eight grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; two sisters, Janet Sackmann and her husband Emil of Lind, WA, Leah Goehner of Spokane, WA and sisters-in-law, Dollie Jeske of Moses Lake, WA, Pearl Jeske of Yakima, WA, and Joan Jeske of Ellensburg, WA, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and lifelong friends Larry Carter and family. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Edwin, Ernest and Daniel all of Washington State. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Homecare and Hospice of Lancaster, 901 West Meeting Street, Suite 201, Lancaster, SC 29720.
