The Reverend Larry Plyler, age 78, of the Flat Creek community, Kershaw, S.C. passed away Saturday evening, January 11, 2025, from injuries sustained in an automobile accident. Born in Lancaster, S.C., he was a son of the late Sidie O. Plyler and Florence Threatt Plyler. A faithful Baptist minister, he pastored the following churches, Second Baptist Church, Great Falls, where he served as Minister of Music, Minister at North Hampton Baptist Church, Georgetown, S.C., Camp Creek Baptist Church, Lancaster, S.C., Abney Baptist Church, Kershaw, S.C., Morningside Baptist Church, Union, S.C. and Temple Baptist Church, Lancaster, S.C. Currently he was serving Midway Baptist Church as interim pastor. In his earlier years he loved to fish. He cherished the time he spent traveling with his late wife. He enjoyed music, watching movies and visiting and sharing with people.
He is survived by his 2 daughters, Holly Plyler Olds and her husband, Doug and Kelly D. Betenbaugh and her husband, Chris: his siblings, twin brother and sister, Brenda Horton and Brady Plyler and his wife, Pat and his twin brother, Jerry Plyler and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife, Marcia Elaine Whitaker Plyler; brother, Robert Plyler and his sister, Margaret Rollings.
A graveside service to remember and celebrate his life will be held on Friday, January 17, 2025, at 1:00 P.M. in the afternoon from Pleasant Plain Baptist Church Cemetery, Kershaw, S.C. The Revs. Todd Montgomery and Scott Robinson will officiate. Burial will follow in the cemetery.
The family will greet friends following the service in the cemetery.
