A funeral service to celebrate the life of Rev. Earl Lee Alford, 65 of Lancaster will be held at 3:00 p.m., Wednesday, December 21, in Crestview Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the Abney Baptist Church Cemetery, Kershaw. The Revs. Scott Robinson and Robert Shuford will officiate. Born in White Plains, Kentucky, May 5, 1946, he was the son of the late Lloyd and Mae Woodall Alford. Rev. Alford died Saturday, December 17, in Agape Hospice, Rock Hill. Rev. Alford was a Baptist minister having served the following churches; Bethel Baptist Church, Newport, S.C, Beaverdam Baptist Church, Cassatt, S.C., Siloam Baptist Church, Ninety Six, S.C., First Baptist Church, New Lenox, ILL, Pleasant Plain Baptist Church, Kershaw, S.C., Westcreek Baptist Church, Batesburg, S.C. and Bloomingvale Baptist Church, Andrews, S.C. He was a graduate of Wingate College and Southern Theological Seminary. Surviving are his wife of 45 years; Carol Carnes Alford of the home, 2 sons; Eric S. Alford-Hartman and his wife Guynette of Louisville, KY., Trent L. Alford and his wife Jennifer of Lancaster, 5 grandchildren; Courtney Hartman, Tyler Alford, Hannah Alford, Reid Hartman and Ginger Hartman, 2 sisters- in- law; Janine Alford of Rock Hill, Janice C. Scott of Kershaw and a number of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brother; George Alford. The family will receive friends, Tuesday, December 20, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Baker Funeral Home, Kershaw and other times at the home of his son; 3141 Ashwood Lane, Lancaster. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice Care of South Carolina, 412 North White Street, Lancaster, S.C. 29720.
