Rebekah Lee Huggins Hammond, Huggie, of Kershaw, S.C., passed away Wednesday, April 2, 2025, on her 81st birthday at her home. Born in Lancaster, S.C, she was the daughter of the late Oscar Huggins and Edna Small Huggins. Rebekah was a graduate of Lancaster High School where she was a cheerleader and basketball player. She also taught dance lessons in Kershaw and Lancaster for Susan Connelly. She served as an administrative assistant for 28 years at Kershaw Elementary # 1 later becoming Kershaw Elementary School. She was a faithful member of First Baptist Church where she served the church in various capacities: served in the nursery, taught mission friends and vacation bible school. Huggie especially loved to help the children make crafts throughout the years. In her spare time, her passion was flower gardening and helping Larry around their farm. Rebekah was an avid shag dancer, and she and Larry taught lessons to many people. Rebekah also was a member of the Jayceettes and a Girl Scout Leader. Always willing to lend a helping hand, she and Larry traveled on many mission trips. Rebekah was a volunteer for Kershaw Area Resource Exchange and cared deeply about the children at the elementary school. Huggie also enjoyed visiting and entertaining at the family home on Lake Wateree. She was happiest when she spent time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
