Ralph B. Jones

Ralph Burrell Jones, Sr. age 94, of Kershaw, S.C., passed away, Tuesday morning, October 24, 2023, in Prisma Health Richland Hospital, Columbia, S.C. Born in Kershaw, S.C., he was a son of the late Burrell Tillman Jones and Hazel Grace Parker Jones. Mr. Jones was a contractor. He was a faithful member of Sand Hill Baptist Church. He was the owner/operator of Kershaw Builders’ Supply. He enjoyed gardening and horseback riding. Mr. Jones was a farmer at heart. He also enjoyed spending time with his four-legged friends.


He is survived by his loving wife, Dolores Taylor Jones; 3 children, Charlene (Gary) Thornburg, Chet (Donica) Jones and Stephen (Darlene) Jones; 6 grandchildren, Ralph (Nancy) Jones, III, Shannon (Michael) Shelton, Denise (Chip) Wolfe, Tommy (Cameron) Lenz, Taylor (Ginny) Thornburg and Ryan (Emily) Jones; numerous great grandchildren and great- great grandchildren.


In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 2 children, Sheila Jones Lenz and Ralph B. Jones, Jr. and 4 brothers, Bruce Tillman Jones, Howard Carlton Jones, Russell Parker Jones, and Roland Lawrence Jones.


A funeral service for Mr. Jones will be held at 2:00 o’clock p.m., Thursday, October 26, 2023, in the sanctuary of Sand Hill Baptist Church, Kershaw, S.C. The Revs. Michael Owens and Bill Barnett will officiate. The burial will follow in the church cemetery.


The family will greet friends following the committal service in the cemetery.
