Polly Sowell

Funeral services for Polly Sowell, 82, will be held at 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, December 16, at Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church, Jefferson. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Rev. Terry Corder will officiate.

Miss Sowell died Monday morning, December 14, in Springs Memorial Hospital, Lancaster. Born in Kershaw, she was the daughter of the late William P. and Hattie Catoe Sowell. Miss Sowell received her BA from the University of South Carolina in 1946. She was retired from the Kershaw County School District as a English teacher, having taught at Mt. Pisgah High School and North Central High School. She enjoyed volunteering at the Kershaw County Medical Center. She was also a member of Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church.

Surviving are her sister; Lexsy S. Jones of Blackville and a number of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by three brothers; Norman Paul Sowell and ENS John Gary Sowell and Ned Sowell.

The family will receive friends in the church fellowship hall following the committal service.
